Giving Individual Feedback Using Lensoo Create Videos

I am a lecturer in mathematics at TTK University of Applied Sciences in Estonia.

In this blogpost, I would like to reflect on my experience creating individual feedback to students using videos and share  ideas  that came during learning materials  of Play&Learning DigiMedia video’s module.

What?

I have used vidos in order to answer students’ individual questions. Usually, students send me a picture  with their solution. I take this picture to the tablet and using the Lensoo Create app give the student feedback, I show what he has done wrong/right and share instructions to solve similar tasks. Here is one example of such feedback: https://create.lensoo.com/watch/c7BV.

Lensoo Create turns tablet into a virtual whiteboard with voice recording and smooth digital writing. Using Lensoo Create I can quickly share  ideas virtually anywhere through email, Moodle, etc.

Why?

I use this type of feedback to organize flexible learning processes. Student does not have to come to the teacher physically, but gets a perfect answer with one click on his phone, tablet or computer. This is especially appreciated by distance learners.

Very convenient to use

To create a video on Lensoo Create just open the app and tap the record button in the top of the screen. You can then start drawing on the white canvas in the app. Everything that you draw and type is captured in the video as is anything that you say while drawing. You can pause the recording then add a new page on which you draw while talking. When you’re finished just tap the “done” button to save your work.

Ideas for the future

Studying Play&Learning DigiMedia course’s materials, I got 2 concrete ideas for future:

  1. Individual feedback can also be provided through interactive video. First  to create a video according to the student’s question using Lensoo Create and then add some questions to it using H5P tool “Interactive video”.
  2. Inspire  students to co-produce videos. May allow students to answer other students’ questions using videos.

  1. For me Lensoo was a new tool. Especially with distance learners these kind of interactive tools are very usable. I was thinking that this tool could be used also e.g when students draw pictures or graphs. They could record and show how they understand those. I will introduce this tool to my students because this might be very practical in groupworks; where several students are studying on distance.
