3-parent baby

Hello, this may be equally fascinating and scary but certainly relevant to our course: yesterday it was made public that the world’s first 3-parent baby has been born: https://www.theguardian.com/science/2016/sep/27/worlds-first-baby-born-using-dna-from-three-parents. Meaning that after millions of years of humans and our ancestors mixing genes from two individuals, in 2016 this line was broken. I look forward to many discussions in the weeks to come. All best, Mads

“Was this the first time ever they performed the technique or were there other attempts and they are reporting this one because it was successful?” This question give me chills, because often the answer is yes. Also, not directed related but I remembered a book I recently read called Inter Ace Age Four by Kobo Abe. The book is about the creation of a new sub aquatic species with major ethics issues. I really recommend this one.
These kind of news always make me remember some fiction books, is amazing. Thanks for sharing!
